WHAT IS A NECK LIFT?
A neck lift is a surgical procedure that is used to improve the visible signs of aging in the jawline and neck. Neck lift surgery is used to treat the following:
- Loose skin on the neck area
- Excess fatty deposits under the chin
- Muscle banding in the neck, creating abnormal contours
- Excess fat and relaxed skin in the lower face area, creating jowls
WHY HAVE A NECK LIFT?
With time, as one ages, the loss or youthful contours in the face and the neck can due to many factors: heredity, gravity, environmental conditions, or even stress. While these symptoms are a natural part of aging, a neck lift may be an option to consider for those patients who want to improve the appearance of his or her jawline and neck.
HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?
Neck lift surgery can be performed under general anesthesia or intravenous sedation. Dr. Ocampo will determine which is best suited for each individual patient. Incisions are dependent upon the extent of the changes a patient wants. Dr. Ocampo will tailor the incisions depending on the appearance of the neck. He will then remove the excess sagging skin, and any excess fat, if necessary. Tissue will be repositioned and muscle will be tightened. Dr. Ocampo will gently place the skin back, and excess skin will be trimmed. Incisions can be closed with sutures or skin glue. Swelling and brushing is normal. Recovery will reveal the improvements to the appearance of the neck area.
