WHAT IS A CIRCUMFERENTIAL BODY LIFT?

A circumferential body lift is a surgical procedure that improves the overall shape and tone of the skin and fat (cellulite, dimpled skin, irregular surface), particularly in the areas of the abdomen, buttocks, groin, and thigh. Body lift surgery is common after extreme weight loss, where skin elasticity is very poor, and excess skin is removed. Circumferential body lift surgery is used to treat the following:

  • Sagging skin causes uneven shape in the buttocks
  • Sagging skin in the groin area falling into inner thigh
  • Sagging skin on the inner, outer, posterior thigh

WHY HAVE A CIRCUMFERENTIAL BODY LIFT?

There are several factors that can contribute to sagging skin: normal aging, pregnancy, extreme weight fluctuations, even genetic factors. These symptoms can lead to the poor elasticity in skin. Although these factors may be natural, circumferential body lift can be an option to consider for those patients who wish to improve the appearance of these areas.

HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?

Circumferential body lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Ocampo will determine where to create incisions, typically located in a similar pattern to a bikini line. Circumferential incisions may also be administered to remove the excess skin and fat around lower abdomen area. The incisions are closed (sutures or skin glues) and recovery will reveal almost immediate improvements to the circumferential area.
